  • Saving Florida’s Endangered Bromeliads Join the Sierra Club Meeting

    Where: Sarasota Garden Club

    When: Thurs, Jan 11

    This presentation will document what is happening to several of Florida’s native Bromeliads, especially the Tillandsia ultriculata. It will also cover why this is a concern, what is being done to save Florida’s bromeliads in general and specifically at Carlton Reserve in Sarasota County. Finally, it will cover what we all can do to help ensure the survival of Tillandsia utriculata in Florida.

  • The Sabal Trail Gas Pipeline Join the Sierra Club Meeting

    Where: Sarasota Garden Club

    When: Thurs, Feb 9

    Merrillee Malwitz-Jipson will be discussing the Sabal Trail gas pipeline. Since 2013, residents in north central Florida have known about Sabal Trail gas transmission pipeline and have attempted every means possible to stop it. Merrillee has been one of the strongest opponents of the fossil fuel infrastructure project that threatens Florida's most vulnerable natural resource found in water.

  • Climate Ride Death Valley Death Valley National Park

    When: Feb. 24- Mar. 1

     This charitable cycling challenge explores the absolute best of Death Valley National Park, a renown cyclist's paradise with little car traffic, pleasant springtime weather, and unparalleled desert vistas. In springtime, the average daytime high is 72-80 degrees – great cycling weather!

  • Climate Ride Colorado Ride the Rocky Mountain High

    When: Aug. 25- 30

    The newest Climate Ride is an amazing 6-day adventure that begins in Western Colorado at a private conservation ranch known for its beauty and superb bird habitat; visits Steamboat Springs and the Yampa River Valley; then crosses the Rockies through Rocky Mountain National Park to our triumphant finale in Boulder, CO. Climate Ride will provide a shuttle from Denver and Boulder to the ride start. Daily cycling mileages will suit all types of cyclists.

    Experience the best of Iceland’s magnificent landscapes via mountain bike on our newest international Climate Ride expedition!
